The Guyana Boxing Board of Control staged the first Friday Night Fight card of 2013 on Friday evening with Anson Green and Delon Allicock recording impressive knockouts and Richard Williamson gaining a unanimous decision over his trainer, Orland ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers.
While Green stopped debutant Eric Richmond two minutes, 45 seconds (02:45s) in the fourth and final round, Allicock completely annihilated Charlton Skeete, flooring him several times, on his way to a knockout win, two minutes, five seconds (02:05s) into the second round.
In what turned out to be the main bout, young Williamson handed the 39-year-old Rogers his 15th defeat with the judges scoring the contest 59-56, 59-55, 60-54 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Both boxers trade their skills at the Pocket Rocket gym in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
The junior middleweight title fight between Mark Austin and Gladwin Dorway, which was billed as the feature event, never materialised, as the ringside deemed Dorway medically unfit to fight.
It was disclosed that Dorway’s heart rate was far below that of a normal adult. His heart rate was recorded at 43 beats per minute. A normal person’s heart rate is between 60-100 beats per minute.
Meanwhile on the amateur segment of the card, Quincy Boyce (119-124 pounds) John Moore (70-74 pounds), Tyron Lashley (90-94 pounds) and Jaime Kellman (55-59 pounds) all gained victories over their respective opponents.
